The World’s First Driving Dog
The SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal) in Auckland, New Zealand, desired to show that abandoned dogs can be loving and aren’t second-class animals. In order to convey this message and show how smart these dogs are, they worked together with trainer Mark Vette, MINI New Zealand and advertising company DraftFCB to teach them how to drive. Tommy Hilfiger’s first ad campaign by George Lois
Renowned New York adman George Lois created the initial advertising campaign in 1985 to raise awareness of designer Tommy Hilfiger. Then young totally unknown designer became instantly famous after George Lois challenged the readers with a daring claim with just one outrageous ad. Who the hell is T____ H______? The word spread like lightning, Lois then positioned Hilfiger as a leader of the third wave of designers. “First there was Geoffrey Beene, Bill Blass and Stanley Blacker… Then Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis and Ralph Lauren and today it’s Tommy. In an article in Vanity Fair, Tommy Hilfiger exclaimed, “If I hadn’t listened to George Lois in 1985, I’d probably be poor today.”

Brand in progress: Design for contemporary retail environment
10 young designers were selected to take part in the The Branding Lab project which the Jan Kattein architects studio is running for Waltham Forest Council. MC&A, two members of our creative team are involved in the project. The project started as an international design competition to get students and graduates from top design schools involved in shaping a London High Street to look it’s best during the Olympics. It also provides exemplary model for town centre regeneration which, if successful, may be introduced to other retail centres across the borough. Participants are teamed-up with shopowners along the High Road to improve the corporate image of shops, re-arrange displays and devise new retail strategies.

How can you be creative and effective in finding new and alternative media spaces? In order to get the attention of the public opinion on the problem of street fights in public entertainment spaces in Ekaterinburg, russian local magazine It’s My City took over the media spaces on the streets where the army was rehearsing the Victory Day Parade.

Directed by Jason Fialkow at Egg Films, Y&R’s client, Playboy South Africa has come out with a new TV commercial. The idea behind the Ad is all about reaffirming the impact Playboy has had on popular culture through the decades. This iconic brand has been going since 1953 and has seen many fads, trends and styles come and go but has always kept itself relevant to its readers by delivering more than just a centerfold.
